 2017 Preview 


       Stanhope Elmore completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Stanhope Elmore just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region two with a 2-4 region record.

       Since 2010, Stanhope Elmore has gone a combined 37-37. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 6A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Stanhope Elmore has managed to compile a record of 186-109. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 6A and 67th in the AHSAA.

Much traveled coach Mike Dean leaves Stanhope Elmore after just one season with a 4-6 record.


Brian Bradford leaves Chilton County after three seasons to accept the head coaching job at Stanhope Elmore. His time at Chilton County produced a 9-21 record and no playoff appearances.



       Coach Bradford's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 9-21 (30.0%).

       The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs will play in Class 6A region two during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Mustangs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Stanhope Elmore missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2017.

       The Mustangs open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Prattville on Friday, September 1 at Stanley Jenson Stadium. Last year the Prattville Lions finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in fifth place in Class 7A region two. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Sidney Lanier by a score of 21-20.

       Stanhope Elmore and Prattville have met a total of 45 times on the football field. The Mustangs have a 11-33-1 record against the Lions. They last met in 2016 with Stanhope Elmore winning by a score of 23-28.

       Stanhope Elmore returns 6A All-State Senior offensive lineman Jake Andrews. He was named to the second team last season.

       College prospects include: Jake Andrews (6-3, 286) offensive guard, Kelvin Stokes (6-3, 230) defensive end,
